Der starke Zustrom von Asylsuchenden nach Deutschland war im Dezember 2015 erstmals wieder rückläufig. Die Zahl registrierter Asylsuchender lag jedoch über der der ersten Jahreshälfte. Hauptherkunftsländer im Jahr 2015 waren Syrien, Afghanistan, die Staaten des Balkans und der Irak.
"Halāl" ist ein arabisches Wort und kann mit „erlaubt“ und „zulässig“ übersetzt werden. Es bezeichnet alle Dinge und Handlungen, die nach islamischem Recht zulässig sind.
Halāl-Fleisch
Ähnlich wie beim koscheren Fleisch im Judentum dürfen im Islam nur Tiere gegessen werden, die für den Konsum zulässig sind, regelgerecht geschlachtet wurden und nicht bereits verendet waren. Die Tiere werden – anders als nach mitteleuropäischen Standards – in Schlachthöfen dabei ohne Betäubung mit einem speziellen Messer mit einem einzigen großen Schnitt quer durch die Halsunterseite getötet, in dessen Folge die großen Blutgefäße sowie Luft- und Speiseröhre durchtrennt werden. Mit dem Schächten soll das möglichst rückstandslose Ausbluten des Tieres gewährleistet werden.
Halāl und Tierschutz
Häufig werden Halāl-Fleischprodukte durch betäubungsloses Schächten produziert. Dies ist in Deutschland nach § 17 TierSchG verboten. Wer gegen diese Regelung verstößt, begeht mindestens eine Ordnungswidrigkeit. Dies kann nur umgangen werden, indem man nach § 4 TierSchG eine Ausnahmegenehmigung gegen Vorlage eines Sachkundenachweises beantragt. Aus religiösen Gründen kann ebenfalls eine Ausnahmegenehmigung beantragt werden.

Alison Wylie, editor of Hyptia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, gave the Presidential Address at the 2012 Pacific Division meeting of the American Philosophical Association this past April. Her topic was feminist standpoint theory: why it matters that we are situated knowers and how best to understand the critical advantages that arise from socially marginal standpoints. The text of her address will appear in the November 2012 issue of the APA Proceedings and Addresses.
Feminist Ontology for the Twenty-first Century
What is a woman? What, if anything, do particular women have in common with one another? What differentiates women from other groups of beings? In this interview, Jennifer McWeeny describes how a new kind of feminist ontological project that she terms "topographies of flesh" can speak to these keystone feminist questions and others. She also discusses her comparative philosophical method, how she came to call herself a feminist, why she sees veganism as a feminist issue, and the need for creative feminism that goes beyond critique of dominant ontological paradigms.
McWeeny is Associate Professor of Philosophy Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Her article "Topographies of Flesh: Women, Nonhuman Animals, and the Embodiment of Connection and Difference," published in Hypatia 29(2) was awarded an Honorable Mention for Hypatia's 2014 Diversity Essay Prize. She is co-editor with Ashby Butnor of Asian and Feminist Philosophies in Dialogue: Liberating Traditions (Columbia University Press, 2014).
